Children and young adults share many common problems such as:

Anxiety: Moving home and/or to a new town; changing schools, sibling rivalry, separation anxiety.

Bereavement: For a child, loss of someone who they had a particular emotional attachment to, causes emotional confusion and conflicting behaviours to occur – all in an effort to cope with their experience and those around them.

Exam stress: 11+, GCSE’s, A Level – any exam situation can cause stress and changes in behaviour which affect study and exam success.

Lack of confidence: Fear to be oneself, shyness and a lack of assertiveness.

Low self esteem: Negative beliefs can give rise to low self worth leading to anger, avoidance and over sensitivity etc.

Parental divorce/separation: An upset in home life balance can be upsetting and challenging causing considerable emotional confusion and guilt which can be exacerbated by parental conflict.

Lack of confidence: Fear to be oneself, shyness and a lack of assertiveness.

Low self esteem: Negative beliefs can give rise to low self worth leading to anger, avoidance and over sensitivity etc.

Phobias: Phobias can be wide ranging in severity and the impact they have on a child’s (and those around them) daily life.  It can be something like a school phobia through to a fear of water, spiders or flying etc.

Drawing on NLP skills specially adapted to be more fun and comprehensible for them, I help children and young adults to better understand and manage their changeable emotional states.  Through effective and mutual co-operation these young people will become motivated and inspired to bring about change for themselves and also to the benefit of those around them – tapping into their natural curiosity and desire to learn which means that results are both fast and effective.

Parental contribution to this process is invaluable. At the initial consultation it will be the parent(s) or carer who will provide an understanding of the situation, after which I usually work alone, one to one with the child/young adult as by then I have established a good rapport with him/her.  Working with them in a safe and non-threatening environment, enables the individual to express themselves openly about their thoughts and feelings, to talk about their view of their world in their own way.
